Porsche Taycan: Breaks EV Speed Record in Epic Journey

Porsche's Taycan 4S Cross Turismo breaks barriers by completing the fastest electric vehicle journey from Thailand to Singapore in just 29 hours and 15 minutes. A team of three journalists from different countries took turns driving the remarkable EV across 1,845 kilometers, showcasing its exceptional capabilities.



A Groundbreaking Record Run

The Taycan Record Run challenged norms as three journalists from Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore embarked on a remarkable journey using Porsche's cutting-edge electric vehicle. Pan Eu Jin, Pholpat Salayakanond, and Desmond Chan formed the diverse team that set out to prove the Taycan 4S Cross Turismo's mettle.


Unleashing the Power of Taycan

The Taycan 4S Cross Turismo, equipped with the Performance Battery Plus specification and a 2022 software update, demonstrated impressive performance during the journey. Innovative features such as improved thermal energy management and selective front-axle motor de-coupling contributed to an enhanced WLTP-rated range of 512 km.


Efficiency with Shell Recharge HPC Network

During the record run, the team harnessed the Shell Recharge HPC network, featuring ABB chargers with outputs ranging from 180 kW to 360 kW. This high-powered network facilitated swift 25-minute charging intervals due to the Taycan's advanced 800-volt electrical architecture.


Claiming the Record with Integrity

Porsche emphasized the integrity of the record attempt by adhering to all speed limits and offering no special incentives to the participants. Leveraging existing Porsche customer benefits on the Shell HPC network, they ensured a seamless charging experience during the journey.
