Power Upgraded: Hyundai Ioniq 6 N Beats Ioniq 5 N

Hyundai is once again making headlines with its latest project, the now-not-so-secret Ioniq 6 N. While the Ioniq 5 N has recently hit the roads, whispers are circulating about Hyundai's forthcoming high-performance car, potentially making its debut as early as 2025. As per insights from Australian magazine Drive, the Ioniq 6 N is poised to surpass its crossover counterpart, offering enhanced power and exhilaration for electric vehicle enthusiasts.

The Ioniq 6 N will showcase a dual-motor configuration, surpassing the 650 hp of the Ioniq 5 N. Although specific torque figures are currently undisclosed, it's noteworthy that the Ioniq 5 N already impressively boasts 739 Nm of torque. If speculations hold true, the Ioniq 6 N might even surpass the rapid acceleration of the high-riding model, capable of reaching 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds.

Additionally, there's speculation about a potential reduction in weight for the Ioniq 6 N. A standard dual-motor variant is estimated to shed approximately 27 kg compared to the Ioniq 5 with all-wheel drive and a larger 77.4-kWh battery. This weight reduction implies a potentially lower center of gravity, a result of the sedan's streamlined and aerodynamic design.

The arrival of the Ioniq 6 N doesn't come out of nowhere. Last year, Hyundai introduced the RN22e concept, providing a glimpse into the future of electric vehicle performance. Boasting 577 horsepower, the RN22e rivaled the Kia EV6 GT, another formidable electric contender. The RN22e served as a testbed for high-performance applications of the E-GMP platform, highlighting Hyundai's commitment to pushing the boundaries of electric performance.

With global emissions regulations tightening, the automotive industry is undergoing a significant shift towards electric mobility. In the European Union, a ban on the sale of new cars with emissions is slated for 2035, with Euro 7 regulations looming. These changes mark the onset of an era where electric cars are not just futuristic concepts but a present reality.

In this evolving landscape, Hyundai aims to position itself as a trailblazer in the electric vehicle arena, ensuring that dynamic and thrilling cars continue to thrive, propelled by motors and batteries rather than traditional combustion engines and fossil fuels.
