Proton Pakistan Loses Two Additional Dealerships

In the wake of recent unrest, Proton Pakistan continues to face the fallout from consumer dissatisfaction, with two more car dealerships resigning from their association with the automaker. The initial discord started with protests from consumers who were left waiting for their X70s, followed by the resignation of two dealerships, and now, two more have decided to part ways with Proton Pakistan. Sources and market reports confirm that one dealership in Lahore and another in Islamabad have chosen to sever their ties with the car assembler.

Reasons Behind the Resignations
Lahore-based dealership, Defence Motors, formally conveyed in a letter to the company that they were terminating their relationship with Proton Pakistan. The letter, intended for public awareness, stated that "all warranty claims in the process of settlement or in the future, pending refund claims or in the future, delivery of vehicles, and all other incidental matters will be directly dealt with Al-Haj Automotive."

On the other hand, the Islamabad-based dealership, Ittehad Motors, cited different reasons for ending its partnership with Al-Haj Automotive. They expressed frustration over the lack of information regarding delivery dates for vehicles booked as far back as 2020. Additionally, the repeated price revisions, despite significant delivery delays, and continued price adjustments even after receiving full customer payments were among the primary factors contributing to their decision. The dealership also raised concerns about Al-Haj Automotive's repeated delays in encashing refund cheques.

The letter from Ittehad Motors highlighted another critical issue – the non-availability of essential parts and lubricants from the company, which further resulted in delays in the aftersales services of Proton cars. Considering these factors, the dealership made the difficult decision to resign as an authorized dealership of Proton Pakistan.

Ongoing Challenges
These developments come on the heels of the previous month's consumer protests and the earlier resignations of two dealerships. While Proton Pakistan has announced the resumption of production, the repercussions of past grievances continue to loom large, with consumers still awaiting delivery of their vehicles or the encashment of their refund cheques.

The situation begs the question: What lies ahead for Proton Pakistan in the wake of these resignations? Share your thoughts in the comments section.
