In recent months, discussions about learner permits, driving tests, and driving licenses have dominated conversations in Punjab. The City Traffic Police have initiated a rigorous crackdown on drivers without licenses, imposing substantial fines and even filing FIRs. Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi, recently declared that violators would face two to three nights in jail for breaking traffic rules.

This crackdown prompted a surge in activity at all Khidmat centers of the traffic police. In response, authorities implemented measures to simplify the process. Initially, learner permits became available at all police stations in the province. Subsequently, the process for obtaining a learner's permit was shifted online, and citizens were granted the option to renew their driving licenses online. Additionally, traffic police introduced digital e-licenses to eliminate the need for in-person visits to offices.

Taking another stride, the traffic police have shared a video offering valuable tips for successfully passing the driving license test. In the video, a police official outlines crucial steps to follow and mistakes to avoid during the test.

How to Pass the Driving Test in Punjab?
The official highlights two tracks for candidates: one for those without personal cars and another for car owners. During the test, the driver is instructed to move the car forward with a turn and then reverse it. A key tip provided is to keep the car on the driver's side while moving forward and on the passenger's side while reversing.

Starting the Test:
  • Seat adjustment
  • Seat belt
  • Setting the side view mirrors
The challenging aspect of the driving test is the reversing stage. To succeed, the official recommends keeping the car on the passenger side during this maneuver to avoid hitting cones. Importantly, candidates are granted one chance to correct mistakes during the test.
"If you are stuck while reversing, we will give you one chance to drive it forward and then reverse it again by keeping it on the left side of the track," emphasizes the officer.

By adhering to these straightforward tips, passing the driving test in Punjab becomes much more manageable. Those yet to apply for their driving license are encouraged to do so promptly, thereby avoiding hefty fines and legal consequences.
