Punjab Govt Finishes Subsidy on Metro Bus

The government of Punjab made the decision to finish the subsidies on the fares of metro bus service. The finance minister of Punjab has announced this decision of his government.

The provincial government is giving subsidies of 12 billion rupees to the passengers on annual basis to metro bus service, being run in Lahore, Rawalpindi and Multan. The minister talked with media and said that the fair will be charged from stop to stop and the move by the government is not surprising after coming into power. The government hinted that the subsidy will be reverted on the metro buses. It is also said that the government might also not give subsidy on Orange Line Metro Train Project as this project cost millions of rupees to government treasury.

The Punjab government has presented the annual budget 2018-19 and the government has proposed to decrease yearly token tax on the cars by 50% to 80% according to the engine capacity of the car. This action is taken for the people to get registered their cars in Punjab.

The Excise and Taxation Department has announced that they will issue the universal number plates for people living in Punjab in the future and the new number plates will be province centered rather than city centered. You can also understand it that the number plates will be issued to the people under the name of their province rather than name of their respective cities.
