Railway Ticket Prices Rise Again Within a Month

Railway Ticket Prices Rise Again Within a Month
In response to the recent surge in petroleum product prices, Pakistan Railways has declared a 5% fare increase across mail/express, intercity, saloons, and parcel train services. However, this fare adjustment excludes short-distance passenger trains, shuttle services, and journeys spanning 1 to 250 kilometers for long-haul trains.
The revised fare schedule will take effect from September 19, 2023, at all relevant railway stations, booking, and reservation offices. Additionally, the Director of Information Technology has been tasked with overseeing the application of the 5% fare increase on advance reservations. Detailed information on the updated fare structure will be accessible on the Pakistan Railways website.
Remarkably, this marks the second fare increase within slightly over a month. In response to the prior surge in fuel prices, Pakistan Railways had previously raised fares by 10% for mail/express, intercity, shuttle, passenger trains, and saloon services, effective August 17, 2023.
Furthermore, earlier this September, Pakistan Railways had also introduced a 5% increase in postal and motorcycle transportation rates.
