Sony Corp Plans To Launch Electric SUV this Year

Electric Vehicles EVs are gradually becoming the hot cakes in the global auto market. Even tech giants like Tesla and Apple has already jumped to join the party to bring the smart electric SUVs in the market. Now, the breaking news is that the electronic giant, Sony Corporation has also announced to launch its Electric SUV. The company has revealed the Vision S-01 EV concept at Las Vegas in Global Tech Show, Consumer Electronic Show CES 2022.

Previously, the Japanese tech giant showed the plan not to enter in the auto industry and decided to manufacture the tools and auto parts for other car makers. Now the company creates hype with the announcement to make its entrance in the auto market soon with the Vision S-02 crossover SUV concept.

Sony Vision S-02 Crossover SUV

The Sony Vision S-02 is a compact Crossover all-electric SUV. The Sony SUV is making its appearance to rival the Tesla Model X and Model Y EVs. The Sony EVs will come as seven seater SUV same as of Tesla EVs.

According to company, the Sony EV SUV will be powered by two electric motors that generate 536 hp for all four wheels. The company has not disclosed the battery details which will be installed in the SU for now.

A major highlight for upcoming Sony EV Vision S-02 is that the company is developing an advanced autonomous driving system for the featuring Sony’s always-on connectivity with 33 sensors, COS-MOS, Solid-State LiDAR sensors, radar, and time-of-flight cameras. Sony has dubbed the system “Safety Cocoon”.

The company has not announced the price, detailed features and launch date for the Sony Vision S-02 under the Sony Mobility Inc however, the company hinted to launch the car during spring 2022.
