Thousands of Illegal Vehicles found in Punjab

The Punjab Excise and Taxation Department has allegedly forged the department's computer software system and changed the record of the vehicle category. Officials have illegally turned the vehicles into commercial transport vehicles. The vehicles include people who were smuggled into broken, stolen and illegally engineered chassis with the Boggs registration books.

A number of these fraud cases surfaced in 2017 before the department's "Centralized Excise Computer Data" was activated.

Excise officers have begun to track cases under their "digital audit" during which the officers involved are tracing password-protected digital foot print records. The most fraudulent cases are related to LPT registration series vehicles.

In view of the attractiveness of the situation, the Director of Lahore Motor Branch has issued a notification in which it is compulsory for commercial vehicle owners to get Punjab Vehicle Inspection and Certification System VICS after the new registration of their vehicles.

According to preliminary estimates from excise officials, the number of vehicles changing categories through counterfeiting is in the thousands. In past few days, more than 200 cases have been reported in Lahore, Attock, Rawalpindi and Rahim Yar Khan, which changed the category of vehicles after tampering with computer records.

A new Bogus registration book has been released for this vehicle, which has been smuggled into another city after being regularly converted from a commercial to a commercial vehicle. In the case of Lahore and Attock, the sedan category 4 o r 5 seater was changed to truck, bus and Mazda wagon.

.Fake CNICs, certificates and other documents were also uploaded during computer submissions to change the category. Bogus registration books were used to steal and smuggle commercial vehicles, while the original engine and chassis numbers of these vehicles were replaced by existing vehicle records. The result was that two cars of the same engine and chassis number were operating on the roads, one of which is original and the other is fake.

Sources revealed that excise motor vehicle computer software in Punjab was not centralized before 2017. During the change in the category of registered vehicle ownership in another city, department excise personnel did not have full access to the original vehicle data. General Chat Chat Lounge

Minister of Excise and Taxation Hafiz Mumtaz Ahmed confirmed the fraudulent news about the change in the category and said that in the past this has been done by an organized group. A large number of cases have been reported in Lahore, Rahim Yar Khan and some other cities including Faisalabad, and we are now conducting a detailed investigation in this province using our software. The provincial minister said that we would also seek help from the Punjab Information Technology Board PITB if needed; adding that legal action will be taken against those vehicles whose registration is proved to be fake and fake.
