Top 3 least-selling vehicles from the Bottom

The auto industry in Pakistan has been facing tough times, with sales dropping significantly for many vehicles. However, some models seem to be permanent residents at the bottom of the sales chart. In this article, we will take a closer look at the three least-selling vehicles and explore the challenges they encounter in the competitive market.

Third Place: JAC X200 - A Struggling 1-ton Pickup

The JAC X200 1-ton pickup truck, supported by Ghandhara, occupies the third spot as the lowest-selling vehicle. In the fiscal year 2023, it managed to sell just 556 units, a drastic 40% decline from the 931 units sold the previous year. While it appears to be a promising product on paper, the launch of Hyundai Porter took a toll on its sales, with the latter selling 1,319 units in FY23.

Second Place: Isuzu D-Max - A Five-Year Struggle

The Isuzu D-Max has been residing at the bottom of the domestic sales chart since its introduction in November 2018. In FY23, the pickup truck found only 194 buyers, a 59% drop compared to the 473 owners it had in FY22.

First Place: BAIC BJ40 Plus - The Lowest Selling Locally Assembled Vehicle

Sazgar-backed BAIC BJ40 Plus claims the first position as the lowest-selling locally assembled vehicle. Throughout the year, it could only manage to sell 169 units, reflecting a significant 62% decline from the 442 units sold the previous year.

The Challenge of Newer Players

While the bottom three vehicles struggle to find buyers, newer players like Chery Tiggo Pro and Haval H6 have fared relatively better in the market. Despite being launched later, Haval H6 sold 1,657 units in just 10 months, and Chery Tiggo SUVs recorded 1,268 unit sales. As for Proton X70, its sales data remains undisclosed to the Pakistan Automobile Manufacturers Association (PAMA).
