Toyota Hilux GR Sport Hits Australian Market

Toyota Hilux GR Sport Hits Australian Market
Toyota Australia is set to launch the Hilux GR Sport, featuring a more aggressive design and a significantly more potent engine. This upcoming model boasts the most powerful diesel engine ever seen in an Australian Hilux, along with several enhancements to its suspension system.
A Potent Powertrain for Enhanced Performance
The Hilux GR Sport comes equipped with a 1GD 2.8-liter turbodiesel engine, similar to other variants. However, in this model, it delivers an impressive 221 horsepower, a substantial increase compared to the 201 horsepower in other versions. The torque output has also been beefed up to 550 Nm from the standard 500 Nm. The power is efficiently transmitted to either the rear wheels or all four wheels, depending on the driving mode, through a six-speed automatic gearbox.

Enhanced Suspension for Off-Road Adventures
Built on the same "wide-track" platform as the Hilux Rogue, the GR Sport boasts a 15 mm higher ground clearance and an extended track width of 135 mm in the front and 155 mm in the rear, setting it apart from its counterparts.
The vehicle's suspension has been finely tuned to optimize off-road performance. It comes equipped with KYB monotube shock absorbers featuring a larger piston diameter, as well as distinct front coil and rear leaf springs. The absence of the rear sway bar enhances axle articulation and improves ground contact on rough terrains.
Sleek Design and Rugged Additions
The Hilux GR Sport showcases a bold design, with a black mesh grille displaying the iconic "TOYOTA" script emblem and GR badge, adding a touch of elegance. The newly designed front bumper features fog lamp bezels, a silver lower molding, and a skid plate. The vehicle's wide track is emphasized by prominent black fender flares with front aero vents, which also reduce wheel-arch turbulence.

Additionally, the GR Sport boasts sturdy 2mm steel heavy-duty rock rails, safeguarding the door sills and vehicle underbody. The rear end is equipped with red recovery points, a black bumper, and a pre-installed towbar, towball, and trailer wiring harness.
Sporty Interior for Thrilling Driving Experience
Inside the GR Sport, drivers will be delighted to find a rally-inspired leather steering wheel with paddle shifters, adorned with a striking red center stripe and a GR emblem. The front sports seats feature GR emblems, accentuated by grey stitching and vibrant red seat belts.

Price and Availability
The impressive array of upgrades comes with a substantial price tag. Reports suggest that the Hilux GR Sport will be priced over Rs. 14 million. While the Hilux Revo GR-S was recently introduced in Pakistan as the new flagship variant, it differs from the Australian GR Sport variant. The GR-S in Pakistan is essentially an appearance package and costs a staggering Rs. 2 million more than its Australian counterpart. Nonetheless, the Hilux continues to dominate as one of the best-selling vehicles in Pakistan.
