Toyota Indus Exports “Made In Pakistan” Vehicles

On July 31, 2024, Toyota Indus Motors celebrated a major milestone at its Port Qasim Manufacturing Plant. The company announced the commencement of exporting "Made In Pakistan" vehicles. The event was graced by the Federal Minister for Industries and Production, Rana Tanveer, and IMC’s CEO, Ali Asghar Jamali. This marks a significant achievement for the company, which has been planning this initiative since the previous year.

Expansion to Oceanian Markets
The company revealed plans to export vehicles to Oceanian countries, starting with popular models like the Fortuner, Hilux, and various CKD Corolla Cross variants. These models are not only well-received locally but also hold strategic importance in international markets. The decision to export underscores the company's commitment to expanding its market presence beyond Pakistan.

CEO's Statement on Export Milestone
CEO Asghar Jamali expressed pride in this achievement, stating, “To see the ‘Make in Pakistan’ dream cross international borders is a big moment for not just us but Pakistan, too.” This statement highlights the significance of this export initiative, which not only boosts the company's growth but also elevates Pakistan's status in the global automotive industry.

Alignment with AIDEP 21-26 Policy
This export initiative aligns with the AIDEP 21-26 policy, which emphasizes the localization of automotive parts, strict adherence to safety regulations, and the promotion of Pakistani-manufactured vehicles on a global scale. The policy aims to enhance the local industry's capabilities and ensure that Pakistani vehicles meet international standards, thereby facilitating their acceptance in foreign markets.

Challenges for Pak Suzuki's Export Plans
While Toyota Indus progresses with its export plans, Pak Suzuki is also aiming to export vehicles to Bangladesh. However, Pak Suzuki faces challenges due to objections from the United Nations regarding safety and compliance issues. Despite assurances from the Minister of Industries & Production, Rana Tanveer, that these issues will be resolved soon, Pak Suzuki continues to work on ensuring that all their export models fully comply with UN safety standards by June 2025.
