Toyota Next Gen EVs Starting with Luxury Car
The upcoming CEO of Toyota has announced that the company will introduce its next-generation electric vehicles (EVs) through the Lexus brand in 2026. This move is part of Toyota's plan to revamp its expensive and time-consuming EV development process. The company said that Toyota EVs are luxury cars in the next generation.
Additionally, the Japanese automaker will broaden its existing range of electric vehicles (EVs), which currently includes the bZ4X crossover SUV and the Subaru Solterra EV, both of which are built on Toyota's flexible e-TNGA electric platform.
The current president of Lexus and Gazoo Racing is set to become the new CEO of Toyota on April 1st, succeeding Akio Toyoda. During a press conference, she emphasized that the development of next-generation EVs is the company's top priority and the new leadership will prioritize it.
Toyota has been criticized for its slow approach to EVs, while its competitors have been expanding their EV offerings. Despite this, Sato stated that Toyota will continue to focus on hybrid cars, including the recently updated Prius, “We want to stay in tune with customers around the world and provide diverse options,".
