Toyota Pakistan Reveals Locally Built Corolla Cross Hybrid

After numerous leaks, speculations, and hints, Indus Motor Company (IMC) is set to unveil its first locally assembled hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), the Corolla Cross. The local production of the Corolla Cross Hybrid was officially revealed at a line-off ceremony in Karachi held yesterday. The event was attended by notable figures, including representatives from Toyota and government dignitaries.

During the ceremony, Mohamedali R. Habib, Chairman of IMC, expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to this groundbreaking achievement. He emphasized the enduring friendship between Japan and Pakistan. Yoshiyuki Takai, President of Toyota’s Emerging-market Compact Car Company, graced the occasion and highlighted the growing preference for HEVs in Asian countries. Takai expressed optimism that Pakistani customers would warmly embrace the Corolla Cross HEV, considering its attractiveness, efficiency, and exhilarating performance that has proven successful in other markets.

Specs & Features (CBU):

The Corolla Cross Hybrid is equipped with a 1798cc hybrid engine, producing 168hp at 3600 RPM and 305Nm torque at 3600 RPM. The car is fitted with a Direct Shift CVT transmission.

Exterior:

The top-of-the-line variant boasts LED headlamps and DRLs, while the lower-end variant features halogen lights. The vehicle's exterior includes body-colored door handles, electric + auto-fold side-view mirrors, and a shark fin antenna. The top variant also offers a power + kick sensor trunk door, with other variants having an electric lock boot. All variants are equipped with 17-inch alloy rims.

Interior:

Inside, the Corolla Cross Hybrid features an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, leather seats, Auto AC dual-mode, and rear AC vents. The lower-end variants come with fabric seats, a basic audio system with CD/BT, Single-Mode Auto AC, and no AC vents for rear seats.

Safety Features:

The international model of the Corolla Cross includes seven airbags, covering the driver, passenger, side, drive knee, and curtains. The lower-end variant is equipped with dual airbags. Both variants feature ABS, Hill Starting Assist System, parking sensors, and a passenger seat sensor.

The top-of-the-line variant comes with additional features such as a moonroof, cruise control, shark fin antenna, and a rear wiper with auto sensors. The lower-end variant, however, lacks cruise control. All variants include Sports + Eco driving modes, Push Start feature, and smart entry.
