Toyota Teases Elegant Electric Sedan and SUV to Rival Tesla

Toyota is making strides in the global electric vehicle market, and its recent showcase at the 2023 Guangzhou Auto Show unveiled promising additions to its lineup.

Comfortable Space: Toyota's Concept Electric Sedan

In collaboration with China's GAC, Toyota presented the "Comfortable Space" electric sedan, offering a glimpse into its vision for the Chinese EV market. While still a prototype, this stylish sedan is set for production in 2025.

The sedan draws design inspiration from the bZ Sport Crossover Concept, featuring a sleek profile with slim LEDs, a coupe-style roofline, and aerodynamic enhancements. The absence of traditional door handles and the use of mirror-replacing cameras contribute to its modern appearance.

Reports suggest the sedan's dimensions, approximately 5 m in length and a 3 m wheelbase, positioning it in competition with leading electric sedans like Nio ET7 and Luxeed S7.

Enjoyable Space: GAC Toyota's Electric SUV

GAC Toyota also unveiled the "Enjoyable Space" electric SUV at the same show. Resembling the bZ FlexSpace Concept, this family-oriented SUV is set for production in 2024, offering ample space for families and cargo.

The SUV boasts a length of 4.8 m and a wheelbase of 2.9 m, slightly longer than a Tesla Model Y. Expected in single and dual electric motor configurations, prices are anticipated to start at RMB 250,000.

Bozhi Sub-Brand: Toyota's Electrification Strategy

Both the "Comfortable Space" sedan and the "Enjoyable Space" SUV are part of GAC Toyota's new "Bozhi" sub-brand lineup. This strategic move aligns with Toyota's commitment to distinctive EV offerings and market expansion in China.

Global Electrification Efforts

Toyota's unveiling of these electric vehicles marks a significant step in its global electrification efforts.
