Traffic Fines Jump for Learner’s Permit Holders in Lahore
In compliance with directives from the Lahore High Court (LHC), provincial authorities have escalated efforts to curb underage driving and individuals without a valid license.
Official statistics released by the Lahore Traffic Police indicate that 4,054 cases have been registered against underage drivers. Additionally, 2,646 cases have been filed against those found driving without a valid license.
It is emphasized by the city traffic police that individuals with learner's permits will not face case registrations but will be subject to a fine of Rs. 2,000.
Last week, the LHC mandated authorities to apprehend motorists operating vehicles without a valid license. The court also called for stringent measures against individuals violating traffic regulations.
In the course of the hearing, the City Traffic Officer (CTO) informed the court that out of the total 7.3 million vehicles, only 1.3 million drivers possess a valid license.
Furthermore, the LHC has issued a warning of severe consequences for Station House Officers (SHOs) if motorists are found disregarding the court order in their respective areas. The crackdown is part of a broader effort to enforce traffic rules and enhance road safety in the region.
