Upgraded 2024 Skoda Enyaq: More Power, Faster Charging

Skoda has revealed significant enhancements to its Enyaq SUV for the 2024 model year, introducing extended range, quicker charging, and increased torque, courtesy of a new rear motor and battery chemistry. The Enyaq lineup now consists of three models – the 85, 85x, and the RS (including Coupe variants), all featuring a revamped drivetrain.

In the Enyaq 85 configuration, the WLPT cycle indicates an expanded range of up to 565 km on a single charge (previously 548 km), accompanied by a boosted maximum power output of 210 kW, up from 150 kW. The improved performance is attributed to the new rear-mounted motor, which not only enhances power but also increases efficiency. Charging speed remains unchanged in this variant.

Meanwhile, the 85x variant achieves a faster 10-80% charging time of 28 minutes (6 minutes faster) due to the upgraded 175 kW max charging rate. The range and power output also see modest improvements, with the range increasing from 524 km to 538 km and power going from 195 kW to 210 kW.

The Enyaq RS experiences a 30 kW power boost, reaching 250 kW, resulting in a range increase to 541 km from the previous 517 km. Similar to the 85x, the charging rate remains at 175 kW, requiring 28 minutes for a 10-80% charging cycle.

Beyond hardware enhancements, Skoda introduces a new preconditioning feature for the battery. This system allows the battery management to optimize its temperature before reaching the charging station, either manually or automatically based on current battery temperature and navigation data.
