Xiaomi Delays Launch of SU7 Electric Car in Pakistan

Airlink Communications has experienced significant growth in recent years, and the company continues to explore new opportunities for expansion. One of the key areas of interest for Airlink has been the electric vehicle (EV) sector, where the company has shown great potential.

Plans for Xiaomi SU7 Max EV in Pakistan
There were earlier reports that Airlink was preparing to launch the Xiaomi SU7 Max electric vehicle in Pakistan. The car, which had been spotted at Karachi Port, was anticipated to debut soon. Airlink was even considering the possibility of assembling the vehicle locally and exporting it to right-hand drive markets around the world. The company had confirmed the import of two vehicles for research and development trials in Pakistan, fueling excitement about the upcoming launch.

Xiaomi SU7: A Competitive Luxury EV
The base variant of the Xiaomi SU7, priced at ¥215,900 (PKR 8.5 million), positioned the vehicle as a competitor to luxury EVs in Pakistan. There was speculation that Airlink would use this advantage to tap into international markets by exporting the vehicle. With such a competitive offering, the potential for the Xiaomi SU7 to succeed in Pakistan seemed promising.

Delay in Local Assembly Plans
However, recent developments have revealed that Xiaomi and Airlink have jointly decided to postpone their plans to assemble the Xiaomi SU7 in Pakistan. Industry experts suggest that Xiaomi may be prioritizing meeting domestic demand in China before expanding into international markets. As a result, the local launch of the SU7 has been put on hold indefinitely, disappointing those who were eager to see the vehicle hit Pakistani roads.

Airlink’s Future Ventures
Despite the delay in the Xiaomi SU7 launch, Airlink is continuing to pursue other growth opportunities. The company is set to begin reflecting revenue from its smart TV sales starting in November 2024, further diversifying its product offerings. Additionally, Airlink is actively working on acquiring a 5G license from the Government of Pakistan, a move that will strengthen its connectivity services and open up new revenue streams.

Potential for Future EV Launches
While the launch of the Xiaomi SU7 has been delayed, there remains a possibility that Airlink and Xiaomi may introduce electric cars in Pakistan in the coming years. For now, Airlink continues to build on its successes in other areas, positioning itself for future growth and innovation in the technology and automotive sectors.
