Chinese automakers continue to push the boundaries of electric vehicles, and their latest offering, the Zeekr 001 FR, is a powerhouse of performance with bold promises.

Hypercar-level Power

Positioned as a direct competitor to the Tesla Model S Plaid, the Zeekr 001 FR doesn't hold back on power. It boasts a quad motor powertrain that delivers a staggering 1,248 horsepower (930 kW) and 1,280 Nm of torque. These figures rival those of hypercars, propelling the EV from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.36 seconds from a standstill and an even quicker 2.07 seconds in a rolling start scenario. However, its top speed is electronically capped at 280 km/h.

Advanced Technology for Performance

The 001 FR incorporates carbon fiber-wrapped rear motors and employs "straight waterfall oil cooling technology" to handle its high-performance capabilities. These technologies ensure smooth operation, although the peak performance can only be sustained for 10 seconds at a time and requires the car to have more than 50% charge.

Highly Efficient Battery

Powering this performance beast is a 100 kWh battery pack with 800V technology, featuring a "multifunctional elastic interlayer" that significantly enhances energy density, heat dissipation, and safety. Zeekr claims the battery can charge from 10% to 80% in just 15 minutes, although no specific range is provided.

Exceptional Handling and Agility

The quad motor powertrain enables the 001 FR to deliver exceptional handling, generating 1.4 G's of lateral force in corners. Impressively, the vehicle can perform tank turns, allowing wheels on one side to spin forward while those on the other side reverse, resulting in a 360-degree rotation capability.

Performance-focused Enhancements

Beyond the powertrain, the 001 FR features a high-performance braking system with ten-piston AP Racing front calipers gripping onto 16.5-inch Brembo carbon ceramic front discs, accompanied by four-piston calipers and 16.1-inch discs in the rear.

Aesthetic Appeal

The vehicle sports an aggressive carbon fiber body kit, including a front splitter, side skirts, a rear diffuser, and a sizable wing for enhanced aesthetics. These elements are complemented by a carbon fiber roof, mirror caps, and striking 22-inch aluminum wheels wrapped in high-performance rubber.

Geely's Powerhouse

The Zeekr 001 FR represents Geely's most potent offering to date and lays claim to being the world's fastest mass-produced car. However, official pricing remains undisclosed.

Global Expansion

Zeekr has already entered the European market, starting in the Netherlands, and has plans for expansion into Norway, Germany, Denmark, and France. The company aims to establish its presence in most Western European countries by 2026.
