2010 Corolla Altis 1.8 SR Gearbox Issue

2010 Corolla Altis 1.8 SR Gearbox Issue

Hey everyone,

I hope you’re all doing well. I have a 2010 Corolla Altis 1.8 SR, and I recently had to replace the old gearbox after driving it for 200,000 kilometers. I went with a kabli Corolla 1ZZ-FE gearbox.

The new gearbox generally works fine, but I’m having a problem when I shift into reverse. Sometimes it jerks a bit, and other times it’s really noticeable, with a loud “DUM” sound that I can feel inside the car.

I’ve already had the valve body serviced and replaced the gear position sensor, but the jerk when reversing still happens. It can be pretty harsh at times.

If anyone has any advice on what might be causing this o r can recommend a good mechanic in Lahore, I’d really appreciate it.

Thanks a lot!

Do you have any other issues, like a faulty MAF sensor sending incorrect signals?

You might also want to do a manual pressure check for the reverse apply. It could be a sticking seal on the piston, and a skilled auto mechanic can help with that.

Sometimes, the line pressure solenoid the PR valve can malfunction o r just get worn out.
