2010 Corolla Altis 1.8 SR gearbox jerk in reverse

2010 Corolla Altis 1.8 SR gearbox jerk in reverse

Hi everyone,

I have a 2010 Corolla Altis 1.8 SR that I recently had to replace the gearbox on after reaching 200,000 kilometers. The main problem was with the solenoids, so I opted for a used 1ZZ-FE gearbox.

The new gearbox generally shifts nicely when I drive forward, but I’ve been experiencing a noticeable jerk when I shift into reverse. Sometimes it’s not too bad, but other times it’s pretty harsh and creates a loud DUM noise.

I’ve already had the valve body serviced and replaced the gear position sensor, but the jerk in reverse hasn’t gone away. It can get so rough that it’s hard to ignore.

I’d appreciate any suggestions for diagnosing this issue. If anyone can recommend a good mechanic in Lahore who knows their stuff, I’d really appreciate it!

Thanks!

Are there any other problems, like the MAF sensor giving inaccurate readings?

It might be a good idea to do a manual pressure test for the reverse function—it could be caused by a seal thats not working properly. A skilled mechanic should be able to assess this.

Additionally, the line pressure solenoid could either be faulty o r simply worn down.
