Aerodynamic Effects of changing Rims

Aerodynamic Effects of changing Rims

i would just like to inform every budy here that ,The aerodynamic effect of changing ur Rims frum stcok to fancy is u get 15% more fuel consumption over a period of 500 km .
This is due to airflow nut being properly adjusted over the changed Rims .

For those of you who are more concerned on economic side u will be happy if u dont change the RIMS .but u can change tyres .

Did u guys notice a wheels cap on the Formula 1 ferrrari .

This is exactly what what they do .the sole purpose is to get fuel economy so that they get more milage for the same quantity of fuel.plus there is an added advantage that ur brakes dont get worn out by dust and small particles.

so its is suggested that u guys keep ur wheels caps on .

Thankx for the time

Have a nice day

Hmm, I think our ordinary road cars won't be effected that badly by aerodynamic drag created by un-even surfaces in an alloy rim. As for Ferrari Formula 1 cars, the wheel caps or hub caps that they use are meant to serve a rather different purpose.

The first most important function of those wheel caps is to direct air flow to the cooling ducts in way that better cooling is achieved in the brakes. Aerodynamic efficiency is the second function that these wheel caps achieve. But, remember, in an F1 car great attention is given to detail. For example, those wheel caps might only improve the aerodynamic characteristics of the car by say 5 to 10% at high speeds. Now this may not apply to our cars as our cars don't travel at high speeds and there are other parts of the body that would create more drag than these fancy wheels would do. Such as side mirrors, spoilers etc.
