Alto-Potohar Engine Clarification

Alto-Potohar Engine Clarification

Many members claim that Suzuki Alto has Potohar Engine. Some claim it has the engine of the old SJ410. However, I've not been able to get any official statement about it.

PakSuzuki website doesn't give much information as usual. Specification attribute for vehicles are inconsistent; link for Potohar is dead and the site shows the old Alto (budging rear lights).

This is what i have been able to find out.

SJ410 had a 4 cylinder 970cc F10A engine that produced 45 hp (34 kW).

I've not been able to find the engine code for the current model of Potohar. I think the engine is the same. SJ410 and Potohar have 4 speed transmissions. The only other renowned 1 liter engine produced by Suzuki was the 3 cylinder G10 series. This engine was fitted in Cultus (old one).

Suzuki website fails to list the engine code for Alto. However, there is an identification code "RA 410". Maybe it refers to be chassis. The engine produces 55hp and works with a 5 speed transmission.

The transmission alone is not enough to distinguish the engines. Comparing the power output, the engines seem to differ.

Comments are welcome.

Sorry for the long and referential post. If we have to discuss/debate something, let's do it on facts, not hearsay.

I wanna buy a Honda VTI Oriel model 98-2000, but the problem is that i have heard many people saying that the Automatic cars specially in Honda have problems with CNG and they drop RPM and behave abnormally. Can you confirm this? or should i buy 1 ?
