Brake Rotor Options for 2018 RAV4

I’m changing the rear brake pads on my 2018 XLE for the first time, and the shop told me that for newer cars like mine, it’s better to replace the rotors instead of turning them. Does that sound right? I had an older RAV4 2012, 6-cylinder where I had the rotors turned with no problems.

It really depends on where you are. In Pakistan, they usually turn rotors. But in other places, the cost of new rotors—whether aftermarket o r budget brands—can be about the same as having your old ones turned. Because of this, many shops just go ahead and replace them.

Its not common, but some shops might still offer to turn your original rotors if you ask.
