Can a radiator leak in my Suzuki Alto cause engine overheating?

I’ve noticed that the engine temperature in my Suzuki Alto is rising above normal, and I think it might be due to a radiator leak. Can a radiator leak cause the engine to overheat, and how can I fix this issue?

Yes, a radiator leak in your Suzuki Alto can cause the engine to overheat. The radiator’s main job is to cool the engine by circulating coolant. If there is a leak, coolant will escape, and the system wont be able to keep the engine at the proper operating temperature.

How a Radiator Leak Leads to Overheating:

Loss of Coolant: If coolant is leaking from the radiator, there will not be enough coolant to effectively regulate the engines temperature.
Increased Engine Temperature: As coolant levels , the engine will start to overheat. This can cause engine parts to seize, which could lead to expensive repairs o r permanent damage.
Cooling System Failure: If the radiator leak is significant, the entire cooling system may fail, causing rapid temperature increase and potential engine failure.
Solution:

Stop Driving Immediately: If you notice your engine overheating, pull over and turn off the engine to avoid permanent damage.
Fix the Leak: Have the radiator leak repaired immediately. The mechanic may recommend replacing the radiator o r sealing small leaks depending on the severity.
Monitor Temperature Regularly: Keep an eye on the temperature gauge during your drives, especially in hot weather conditions.
