Does worn piston rings o r valve seals cause oil loss in a Mehran?

My mechanic suspects worn piston rings o r valve seals are causing high oil usage in my Mehran. How common is this issue in older models, and how can I confirm it before going for an engine rebuild?

Yes, both can lead to oil burning:

Worn piston rings allow oil to seep into the combustion chamber, causing burning during ignition.

Bad valve seals let oil drip into the combustion chamber from the top of the engine.
This is common in Mehrans over 100,000 km if proper maintenance hasn’t been followed. A rebuild o r ring-job may be needed. Sometimes, high-mileage oil thicker and with seal conditioners can help reduce consumption temporarily.
