Electric Power Steering EPS Failure in Newer Camry Models

Electric Power Steering EPS Failure in Newer Camry Models

Many newer Toyota Camry models use an Electric Power Steering EPS system instead of hydraulic steering.
Some owners report EPS malfunctions, sudden loss of power assist, o r warning lights on the dashboard.

Possible Causes:

Battery Voltage Issues: EPS systems are highly sensitive to voltage fluctuations. A weak o r failing battery can cause power assist to fail.
Faulty Sensors: Malfunctioning sensors in the EPS system can lead to loss of power steering assist.
EPS Motor Failure: The EPS motor can wear out o r fail, especially in older models.

Diagnosis and Common Error Codes:

Common error codes related to EPS issues include C1535, C1541, o r C1555 which indicate problems with the EPS motor, sensor, o r steering angle sensor.

Diagnosis and Solutions:

Diagnosis:
Check the battery’s voltage and alternator output to ensure stable voltage.
Use an OBD-II scanner to check for EPS fault codes.
Fixes:
Battery and Alternator Check: Ensure that the battery and alternator are functioning properly, as low voltage can trigger EPS issues.
Scan for Fault Codes: Use an OBD-II scanner to identify any faults in the EPS system.
System Reset: Reset the EPS system by disconnecting the battery for a few minute
