Fuel Optimization at Signals

Fuel Optimization at Signals

When you turn your engine on, how much fuel is consumed? Is it worthwile (fuel optimization perspective) to switch it off waiting at a red signal and then switch it on back again at green?
I can guess no benefit of doing it for 30-40 secs signal but how about the signals with a max wait time of more than 2 minutes?

Can some one come up with a formula which can give you an optimized wait time before you consider to switch your engine off?

too many factors involved and way too many variable to come up with a simple guide.

for example a perfectly tuned mehran would require 1 crank to start on petrol whereas a old busted one would require 20 cranks to turn over which would lead to more inefficiency etc.. and that is just one variable.
