Grinding Noise When Operating Power Windows — Should I Be Worried?
When I try to roll down the window in my Khyber, I hear a harsh grinding noise from inside the door panel, though the window still moves. It’s especially loud in the rear windows. Could it be a broken gear inside the motor o r something misaligned? How common is this in aftermarket Khyber installations?

Yes, a grinding o r crunching noise is a warning sign of internal mechanical wear o r damage:
Worn o r Stripped Gears: In the window regulator o r motor assembly, plastic o r metal gears may wear out o r strip, causing a grinding sound.
Misaligned Window Glass: If the glass is misaligned inside the channel, it can force the regulator to work under stress, leading to mechanical noise.
Broken Regulator Cables: Some regulators use a cable system that can fray o r come loose, creating a grinding o r dragging sound.
Fix: Remove the door panel and inspect the regulator and motor assembly. If gears are stripped o r cables frayed, replace the entire regulator-motor unit. Ensure the window glass is properly aligned in the tracks to avoid further damage.
