Having a problem with my 2008 Vitz rpms

Im having a problem with my 2008 Vitz. When I press the gas pedal hard to accelerate quickly from a stop, the engine RPMs and the car doesn’t really speed up—it feels like the engine is struggling. The same thing happens when Im going uphill the RPMs , and it feels like the car is about to stop.

Ive recently changed the engine oil and cleaned the throttle body, but there hasnt been any improvement. The car can reach high speeds if I press the pedal gently, but when I try for sudden acceleration, it just makes a lot of noise without picking up speed. It does seem to perform a bit better in SPORT mode.

Any ideas on what could be causing this? Thanks!

It sounds like there’s a problem with the fuel system. It could be either the fuel pump o r the injectors. I’d recommend cleaning the injectors first.
