How Can a Faulty Thermostat Contribute to Overheating in a Camry?

If a thermostat fails, how does it impact the engine cooling process? Should Camry owners in Pakistan proactively replace their thermostat at specific mileage intervals?

A thermostat controls the flow of coolant to the engine. If it fails, the engine can either overheat o r stay too cold:

Closed Thermostat: If it remains closed, it blocks coolant flow, causing the engine to overheat.
Open Thermostat: If it remains open, the engine will never reach the optimal operating temperature, affecting fuel efficiency.

Proactive Replacement: It’s recommended to replace the thermostat every 100,000 to 150,000 km, o r sooner if overheating symptoms appear.
