Honda City owners can identify if the radiator leak is coming from the hoses o r the core through a combination of visual inspections and simple DIY methods. Heres how you can check for leaks and pinpoint their source:
Visual Inspection:

Check for coolant puddles:
After parking your Honda City, look for coolant puddles under the car. If the puddles are near the radiator hoses, the leak is likely coming from one of the hoses. If the coolant appears near the radiator core, it may be leaking from the core itself.

Inspect the hoses:
Check the radiator hoses for visible cracks, bulges, o r loose connections. Leaks from hoses typically happen at the connection points where the hose meets the radiator o r at weak spots along the hose. Feel for wetness o r coolant residue around these areas, which may indicate a leak.

Examine the radiator core:
The radiator core is the main part of the radiator that cools the engine coolant. Look for signs of rust, corrosion, o r fluid stains along the fins of the radiator. If you spot wet patches o r coolant streaks running down the radiator, its likely that the leak is coming from the core itself.

DIY Leak Detection Methods:

Pressure Testing:
Pressure testing is one of the most reliable methods to find coolant leaks in the system. You can buy a radiator pressure tester o r visit a workshop for this test. The process involves:
Removing the radiator cap and replacing it with a pressure tester.
Pumping air into the radiator system, simulating the pressure the radiator will experience during operation.
Looking for any leaks under pressure, either from the hoses o r the radiator core. If the pressure s quickly, youll be able to see where the coolant is leaking from.

Leak Detection Dyes:
Leak detection dyes are designed to make it easier to spot leaks in the coolant system. Heres how you can use them:
Add the leak detection dye to the radiator o r coolant reservoir.
Run the engine and allow it to reach operating temperature.
Using a UV flashlight, inspect the radiator, hoses, and connections. The dye will fluoresce under UV light, making any leaks visible as glowing spots.
This method works well for identifying leaks from the radiator core, hoses, o r even small cracks that might be harder to spot.

Look for Overheating:
If you notice the engine temperature rising o r the coolant level ping consistently, it might indicate a radiator leak. This could be due to a leak in either the hoses o r the radiator core. While this method isn’t conclusive by itself, it serves as a clue to further inspect the system.
