How can Honda City owners test if their alternator is working properly?

A simple multimeter test can help check if the alternator is charging correctly. What voltage readings should be expected at idle and while revving the engine, and how can owners perform a basic alternator diagnostic test at home?

To test whether the alternator is working correctly, owners can perform a simple multimeter test. With the car off, measure the voltage at the battery terminals. It should read between 12.4 to 12.7 volts for a healthy battery. When the car is started and the engine is revved to around 2,000 RPM, the voltage should increase to between 13.8 and 14.5 volts. If the voltage is lower o r higher than this range, it indicates an issue with the alternator. This test can be performed at home, but it’s recommended to get a professional diagnosis if there are any concerns about the alternator’s performance.
