How Does the Suzuki Mehran’s 4-Speed Manual Transmission Affect Driving Performance?

The Mehran comes with a 4-speed manual gearbox, which seems outdated compared to modern cars with 5 o r 6-speed gearboxes. How does this affect the car’s highway cruising speed, fuel efficiency, and overall performance? Is it common for Mehran owners to face issues with the clutch o r gearbox over time?

The 4-speed manual transmission in the Suzuki Mehran is quite basic and may not offer the best driving experience in modern traffic o r highway conditions:

Highway Performance: The 4-speed gearbox means that when youre cruising at highway speeds above 80 km/h, the engine operates at a relatively high RPM, which can lead to increased engine noise and higher fuel consumption. The lack of a 5th o r 6th gear makes it less fuel-efficient at higher speeds compared to more modern cars.

City Driving: In city conditions, the 4-speed gearbox is adequate for smooth gear shifts and offers reasonable control. However, it might not be as smooth o r responsive as newer vehicles with 5-speed gearboxes, which provide better gearing for acceleration and smoother cruising.

🛠️ Common Issues:
Clutch Wear: Due to frequent gear shifts, the clutch may wear out more quickly, especially if the vehicle is used in heavy traffic.

Difficulty Shifting: Sometimes, the gearbox may become stiff o r difficult to shift, especially if the transmission fluid is low o r the clutch system is malfunctioning.
