How Does the Toyota Camry’s Electric Power Steering EPS System Fail?

Since modern Camry models use Electric Power Steering EPS instead of hydraulic, what are the common failure points, such as a faulty EPS motor, sensor malfunctions, o r electrical issues? How can owners diagnose and fix them?

Electric Power Steering EPS failure can happen due to:

Faulty EPS Motor: If the motor that powers the EPS fails, steering assistance will be lost, causing the steering to feel very heavy.
Sensor Malfunctions: The system uses sensors to adjust steering effort. A malfunction in these sensors can lead to erratic steering behavior.
