Is a radiator leak the reason my Khyber keeps overheating in traffic?
My Suzuki Khyber runs fine on open roads, but it starts overheating when stuck in traffic. I’ve been told this could be due to a minor radiator leak o r blockage. How do I confirm if the radiator is the actual issue?

Yes, a radiator leak is one of the most likely causes of overheating, especially in stop-and-go traffic where airflow is limited. When coolant leaks, the engine doesn’t receive enough cooling, leading to higher temperatures. In Khyber, which already has a relatively small cooling system, even a small leak can make a big difference.
Other contributing factors include:
Low coolant levels due to the leak
Faulty radiator fan o r fan switch
Blocked radiator fins o r passages due to rust
Thermostat malfunctioning
What to check:
Make sure the radiator fan is turning on when the engine gets hot.
Check coolant levels regularly.
Inspect the radiator and hoses for any visible leaks o r rust stains.
Replace the thermostat if overheating happens despite the radiator being fine.
Tip:
Using a 50/50 coolant-water mix instead of plain water improves cooling efficiency and prevents rust buildup.
