Is it safe to drive a Suzuki Mehran without a thermostat in hot weather?

My mechanic removed the thermostat from my car saying its better in summers to prevent overheating. But I’ve heard mixed opinions about driving without it. Will this harm the engine o r reduce mileage? Is this common practice in Pakistan?

While its common in Pakistan to remove the thermostat in hot weather, it’s not recommended:

The engine takes longer to reach optimal temperature, reducing fuel efficiency.

The engine may run too cool, affecting performance and increasing wear. Instead, use a working genuine o r high-quality thermostat that opens at the correct temperature usually 82°C for Mehran.
