Is overheating a reason for frequent alternator failure in Suzuki Mehran during summers in Pakistan?
During the summer months, my Mehran’s engine gets quite hot, especially in traffic. I’ve had to replace the alternator twice in the last two years. A friend said overheating might be damaging the alternator. Is this true? How does engine heat affect alternator performance in a Mehran, and what can be done to reduce the risk?

Yes, overheating can significantly impact alternator life. In Pakistan’s hot climate, especially during long idling o r city traffic:
The engine bay gets extremely hot, and if the alternator is near the exhaust manifold, it gets exposed to excess heat.
This heat can damage internal windings, bearings, and even the voltage regulator inside the alternator.
Dust combined with heat can also reduce the cooling efficiency of the alternator.
To reduce risk:
Make sure your cooling system is working properly radiator, fan, thermostat.
Use a heat shield near the alternator if possible.
Avoid excessive idling with AC on during hot days.
