Is slow cranking in my Khyber a sign of a weak o r damaged starter motor?

Recently, my Suzuki Khyber has started cranking very slowly before the engine finally starts. The battery is new and fully charged, so I’m wondering if this means the starter motor is going bad. What are the symptoms of a weak starter motor in Khyber?

Yes, slow cranking is often an early sign of a weak o r worn-out starter motor in a Suzuki Khyber. While it can also point to a weak battery, if your battery is new o r tested fine, the starter is a likely suspect.

Common Symptoms of a Weak Starter:
Engine cranks slowly even with a good battery.

Car struggles more to start when hot.

Occasional grinding noise o r delay before cranking.

Why it Happens in Khyber:
Brush wear: Over time, the brushes inside the starter motor wear out and reduce contact.

Armature damage o r carbon buildup: The internal rotor can become dirty o r damaged.

Worn pinion gear o r flywheel teeth: Causes slipping o r grinding.

What You Can Do:
Test the voltage at the starter during cranking below 10V is a red flag.

Remove and bench-test the starter motor at any local electrician in Pakistan this is a cheap and reliable way to confirm.

If confirmed, either replace with a kabli used unit o r get it rebuilt—both options are affordable in local markets like Bilal Gunj Lahore o r Shershah Karachi.
