Is there a way to prevent my Suzuki Alto’s battery from dying due to long periods of non-use?

I only drive my Suzuki Alto occasionally, and I’ve noticed that the battery often dies if I don’t drive it for a week o r more. What steps can I take to prevent the battery from draining when the car is not in use for extended periods?
