Suzuki Alto 5th gear humming noise

Suzuki Alto 5th gear humming noise
Please let me know at what speed 5th gear to be applied and in my car 5th gear is give humming noise. mechanic says if car was driven without gear oil 5th gear might be got damaged. yes the rubber boot of front left tyre was leaking with gear oil. Now the mechanic says if whole gear box not to be maintained quickly 4th gear will also become damage after some time and so on 2nd and 1st. What should i do now please give me expert opinion or suggest me any good mechanic from where i can get better judgment.
