My Toyota Corolla has been throwing a P0420 code, which I believe is related to the catalytic converter efficiency. However, I’m wondering if there are other things that could trigger this code, like the oxygen sensors o r exhaust leaks.
Has anyone had this code come up? Was it actually the catalytic converter, o r was there something else that caused the issue?

Exhaust Leaks: A leak in the exhaust system, especially near the oxygen sensors o r catalytic converter, can cause the P0420 code. It might result in inaccurate readings from the sensors, leading to the code being thrown.
Worn o r Clogged Catalytic Converter: If the catalytic converter itself is clogged o r not functioning properly, it can’t efficiently reduce emissions, triggering the P0420 code. This is a common cause, especially in older cars.
Engine Performance Issues: Problems like misfires, poor fuel quality, o r a rich air-fuel mixture can put extra strain on the catalytic converter, causing it to fail and trigger the P0420 code.
