Toyota Corolla Uneven Tire Wear – What Could Be the Cause?

Hey everyone,

Ive noticed that my Toyota Corollas tires are wearing unevenly, with more wear on the edges than the center. I regularly check tire pressure, so I don’t think that’s the issue.

Could this be due to alignment problems, suspension issues, o r something else? Has anyone else experienced this, and what was the fix?

Would appreciate any advice!

Hey there!

Uneven tire wear, particularly on the edges, is usually a sign of an underlying issue, even if you’re keeping the tire pressure in check. The most common causes are misalignment o r suspension problems.

If your vehicle is out of alignment, it can cause the tires to wear unevenly, often more on the inside o r outside edges depending on the type of misalignment. It’s worth getting a wheel alignment check to see if the wheels are properly aligned.

Another possible culprit could be issues with your suspension components, such as worn-out struts o r shocks. If the suspension isn’t absorbing bumps properly, it can affect how the tires contact the road, leading to uneven wear. Having your suspension inspected can help identify any worn parts that need replacing.

Additionally, driving habits like taking turns too sharply o r frequently driving on rough roads can sometimes exacerbate uneven tire wear, especially if alignment o r suspension issues already exist.

Lastly, it might be worth rotating your tires if you haven’t been doing so regularly. Regular tire rotations help ensure even wear, especially if there’s an underlying issue that may not be immediately noticeable.
