Toyota GLI engine is consume oil 200ml to 300 ml
Hey everyone,
I need some technical advice. I recently put 10W40 Mobil Super 2000 in my car and took a trip to Islamabad on the motorway. I pushed the throttle up to 165 km/h, and when I got back, I noticed my dipstick showed I was about 200 mL low on oil. The mechanic I spoke to said that driving at that speed could cause the engine to consume more oil.
My car has an odometer reading of 184,000 km and performs well—no white smoke o r any issues like that. To be proactive, I flushed the engine and switched to Mobil 1 5W50. On another motorway trip, I drove at around 150 km/h for a round trip of 1,800 km, and once again, I found it was 200 mL low on oil when I got back. The mechanic repeated the idea that high speeds might be putting extra load on the engine and causing it to consume oil.
Since then, I’ve driven another 2,500 km, and now it’s 300 mL low. The car gets great mileage—14-15 km/L in the city and 18 km/L on the highway at 100 km/h. No white smoke, no overheating, and the head gasket seems fine.
Can anyone help me figure out what might be going on? Is it really the high speeds causing the oil consumption, o r could it be something else? Any insights would be appreciated! Thanks!

No need to stress. Your mechanic is spot on—some engines, especially in Corollas, can burn a bit of oil when they’re running at high speeds for a while.
As for the engine flush, it’s not the best idea for an older engine. If there are any small cracks in the seals, the flush could make them worse. Plus, most engine oils already have the right amount of cleaning additives.

Regularly check the oil level and consider a mechanic’s inspection to address potential internal engine issues.
