Toyota Yaris Headlight Bulb Burnout – Could It Be Overvoltage?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been going through headlight bulbs quite quickly in my Toyota Yaris. They seem to burn out after just a couple of months of use. Could it be that there’s an overvoltage issue causing this? I’ve checked the fuse and connections, but the bulbs still burn out.

If anyone has experienced this, how did you resolve it? Is this a common issue for the Yaris?

Thanks in advance for your help!

It sounds like overvoltage could indeed be the culprit, as it can cause headlights to burn out prematurely. One possibility is that the alternator o r voltage regulator might be malfunctioning, sending too much voltage to the headlights. You can use a multimeter to measure the voltage at the headlight socket while the car is running. If the voltage is higher than the typical 12-14 volts, that could indicate an issue with the alternator o r regulator. Its also worth checking the wiring for any shorts o r loose connections that might be causing electrical issues.

If youre not comfortable with electrical testing, it may be best to take your Yaris to a mechanic who can perform a proper diagnostic check of the charging system. Once the underlying issue is resolved, replacing the bulbs with high-quality ones should prevent further problems.
