Toyota Yaris Ignition Coil Issues – Signs of Failure?

Hi,

I’ve been getting some engine stuttering and a flashing check engine light in my Toyota Yaris, and I’m suspecting it might be a faulty ignition coil. The car has been running rough, and I’m not sure if it’s just a small issue o r something more serious.

For those of you who’ve had ignition coil problems, what were the signs of failure? How did you know for sure that the ignition coil was the cause, and what was involved in replacing it?

Thanks in advance for your input!

Engine stuttering and a flashing check engine light in your Toyota Yaris are common symptoms of a faulty ignition coil. If the engine is running rough, it suggests that the coil isnt properly igniting the fuel-air mixture, leading to misfires. A flashing check engine light typically indicates an active misfire, which can damage the engine if not addressed promptly. To confirm a faulty ignition coil, you can use an OBD-II scanner to check for codes related to misfires, such as P0300 to P0304. Replacing the ignition coil involves disconnecting the battery, removing the old coil, and installing a new one, though if you’re unsure about the process, a mechanic can handle the replacement. Ignition coil failure can impact engine performance and fuel efficiency, so it’s advisable to address it quickly to avoid further issues.
