Toyota Yaris Ignition Coil Replacement – DIY o r Professional Help?

Hello everyone,

My Toyota Yaris has started to misfire and run rough, and I’m considering replacing the ignition coils. I’ve done some research, and it seems like a fairly straightforward job, but I’m unsure if I should attempt it myself o r take it to a mechanic.

For those who’ve replaced the ignition coils in their Yaris, how difficult was the process? Is it something a DIYer can handle with basic tools, o r would it be better to leave it to the pros?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Replacing the ignition coils in a Toyota Yaris is a relatively straightforward job, and it can usually be done by a DIYer with basic tools. The process generally involves disconnecting the battery, removing the engine cover, and unbolting the coils. Afterward, you can disconnect the old coils, replace them with new ones, and reassemble everything. However, it’s important to check for any error codes using an OBD-II scanner before replacing the coils, as other issues might cause misfiring as well. If youre comfortable working with car parts and have basic mechanical knowledge, you should be able to tackle it yourself. However, if youre unsure o r uncomfortable with car repairs, it’s always safer to take it to a professional mechanic.
