Toyota Yaris Power Door Lock Not Responding – What Could Be the Issue?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been having trouble with the power door locks on my Toyota Yaris. They sometimes don’t respond when I try to lock o r unlock the doors using the key fob o r the interior button. Some doors work fine, while others seem to malfunction intermittently.

Has anyone else had this issue with their Yaris? Could it be a faulty actuator, o r is there something else I should check?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

If youre experiencing intermittent issues with the power door locks on your Toyota Yaris, where some doors lock o r unlock properly while others dont respond, there are a few potential causes. Here are some things to check and consider:

Faulty Door Lock Actuator: One of the most common causes of this issue is a malfunctioning door lock actuator. The actuator is responsible for physically locking o r unlocking the door when you press the key fob o r interior button. If an actuator is failing, it can cause the door to intermittently respond o r not respond at all.

Steps to Check:
Try locking/unlocking the doors manually using the key to see if the issue is only with the power locking system.
If the door locks work manually but not with the fob o r interior button, it’s likely that the actuator is the culprit for that door. You’ll need to replace the faulty actuator.

Key Fob o r Interior Button Issue: If some doors respond fine while others dont, the issue could also lie with the key fob o r the interior button you use to control the locks. Sometimes, the key fob o r interior button might have a weak signal o r a malfunctioning circuit.

Steps to Check:
Try using a spare key fob o r check if the interior button is functioning properly when the fob is not in use.
If the problem persists with both key fobs o r interior buttons, the issue is likely with the door lock system rather than the controls.

Wiring o r Connection Problems: A loose o r damaged wire o r connector can cause intermittent issues with the door lock system. If the wiring is faulty o r has become disconnected, it can prevent certain doors from locking o r unlocking.

Steps to Check:
Inspect the wiring connections in the door panels for any visible signs of damage o r loose connections.
If you find any damaged wires, it may require a repair o r replacement of the wiring to restore proper functionality.

Blown Fuse o r Relay: A blown fuse o r faulty relay can cause issues with the power door locks. If one door lock is not working o r only works intermittently, it could be due to an issue with the fuse o r relay that controls that specific door.

Steps to Check:
Check the fuse box for any blown fuses related to the door lock system. Consult your Yaris owner’s manual to locate the relevant fuses and replace them if necessary.
If the fuse is fine, the relay may be the issue, and you’ll need to check and possibly replace it.

Battery Issues: If you’re experiencing issues with the key fob not locking o r unlocking the doors, the battery in the key fob may be weak o r dead. This can lead to inconsistent performance.

Steps to Check:
Try replacing the key fob battery to ensure that it’s not the source of the problem.
If that doesn’t resolve the issue, move on to checking the door lock actuators and wiring.
