Toyota Yaris Tail Light Bulb Keeps Burning Out – What’s the Fix?

Hello all,

I’ve had to replace my tail light bulb on my Toyota Yaris three times in the past month, and I’m starting to get frustrated. The bulb blows out every time I use the brake lights. The fuse seems fine, and the wiring looks okay, so I’m stumped.

Has anyone had this issue? What could be causing the bulbs to burn out so frequently, and how can I fix it?

Thanks for any suggestions!

It sounds like you might have an issue with excessive voltage o r a wiring short thats causing the tail light bulbs to burn out. Even though the fuse and wiring seem okay, its possible there is an electrical fault that is sending too much voltage to the bulbs, especially when the brake lights are engaged. You could try checking the voltage at the bulb socket to ensure its within the proper range for the bulb. If the voltage is too high, the issue could be with the alternator o r a malfunction in the voltage regulator. If you can’t pinpoint the issue yourself, it may be worth having a professional mechanic inspect the electrical system, including the brake light circuit.
