Toyota Yaris Windshield Wipers Leaving Streaks – Replacement Options?

Hello all,

The windshield wipers on my Toyota Yaris leave streaks across the glass no matter how new o r clean they are. It’s affecting visibility, especially at night o r in heavy rain.

Has anyone found a reliable brand of wiper blades that work well for the Yaris and don’t cause streaks? Could it be an alignment issue o r something wrong with the windshield itself?

Thanks for sharing your experiences!

If your Toyota Yaris windshield wipers are leaving streaks despite being clean o r new, here are some potential causes and solutions to consider:

Wiper Blade Quality: Sometimes, even new wiper blades can leave streaks if they are of low quality. For better performance, you could try higher-quality wiper blades like Bosch Icon, Rain-X Latitude, o r Michelin Stealth, all of which are known for their superior streak-free performance.

Wiper Blade Material: Check if the wiper blades are made of silicone, which tends to last longer and leave fewer streaks compared to traditional rubber blades. Silicone wipers are especially good in wet conditions and may provide a better experience on your Yaris.

Wiper Blade Alignment: Improper wiper blade alignment could lead to uneven pressure on the windshield, causing streaks. Ensure the wipers are positioned correctly and adjust if necessary. If youre unsure, a professional mechanic can check the alignment for you.

Windshield Condition: Streaks can also result from a dirty o r damaged windshield. If you’ve already cleaned the glass but still get streaks, try using a glass polish o r clay bar to remove any contaminants that might be causing the issue. Check for any cracks o r chips that could interfere with wiper performance.

Wiper Blade Cleaning: Even with new blades, debris o r oils on the rubber can leave streaks. Clean the rubber edges of the wiper blades periodically with a cloth soaked in soapy water o r alcohol to remove any build-up.

Windshield Treatment: If your windshield has any kind of protective coating o r water-repellant treatment, it might be causing issues with the wipers. In such cases, either reapply the coating o r remove it completely to prevent interference with the wipers.

By switching to high-quality wiper blades and addressing any alignment o r windshield issues, you should be able to reduce o r eliminate the streaks and improve visibility while driving.
