Uneven Tire Wear on My Toyota Yaris – Is It Time for a New Alignment?
Hello,
I’ve noticed uneven tire wear on my Toyota Yaris, particularly on the front tires. It seems like one side is much more worn than the other. I recently had an alignment done, but the issue has returned. Could there be something else causing this uneven tread wear, like a suspension issue o r incorrect tire pressure?
Has anyone experienced this and successfully fixed it? I’d appreciate any advice on what I should check o r fix.
Thanks in advance!

If youre experiencing uneven tire wear on the front tires even after having the alignment done, it could be due to a few different factors:
Suspension Issues: Even if the alignment is correct, worn suspension components like struts, shocks, o r control arms can cause uneven tire wear. When suspension parts are worn out, they can prevent the wheels from maintaining proper contact with the road, causing uneven wear. It’s worth having a mechanic check for any suspension problems.
Tire Pressure: Incorrect tire pressure is another common cause of uneven wear. Under-inflated tires can cause the edges to wear out faster, while over-inflated tires can cause the center of the tread to wear prematurely. Make sure to check the tire pressure regularly and keep it at the manufacturer’s recommended level.
Driving Habits: If youre often making sharp turns o r driving aggressively, it can lead to uneven wear, especially on one side of the tires. Try to drive more smoothly, especially when cornering, to reduce the strain on the tires.
Tire Rotation: Regular tire rotation helps ensure that all tires wear evenly. If the tires havent been rotated recently, this could be contributing to the uneven wear. Make sure to rotate the tires according to the manufacturer’s recommended schedule.
Camber Angle: If the camber angle the tilt of the wheel when viewed from the front o r rear is off, it can also cause uneven wear. A professional alignment should check for this, but it may be worth getting the camber angle specifically inspected.
Worn Wheel Bearings: Worn-out wheel bearings can cause the tires to wear unevenly because they affect how the wheels rotate. If there’s any play o r noise coming from the wheels, it could be worth having the bearings checked.
Since you’ve already had the alignment checked, I’d recommend looking into the suspension components, tire pressure, and possibly having a tire rotation done. If those don’t resolve the issue, it might be helpful to have a mechanic inspect the camber and other parts of the steering and suspension system.
